The dry down has a very slight gourmand touch (I would swear there's a smidgen of the "austere vanilla biscuit" from Elixir des Merveilles) but isn't as sweet as the opening. Hermès has the most sophisticated and unique fragrances in the market - L’ambre Des Merveilles is one of my favorite scents of all time, it is a distillation of warm and sensual amber, patchouli and vanilla notes.
The original Hermes Eau Des Merveilles is one of my signature scents and all time favorite fragrances. I’ve never strayed from the original but am on the precipice of blind buying Elixir Des Merveilles. Anyone familiar with this line and have thoughts on favorites?L'Ambre des Merveilles is my favorite from the Merveilles line. Perhaps not as creative as the rest but I think it's the most feminine and easy to wear. Nothing complicated, really. L’Ambre de Merveilles is like one of these gorgeous Hermès mousseline shawls. Impossibly soft and see-through, but still warming and substantial. Compared to such a luxurious scarf, L’Ambre de Merveilles has the added bonus of being a right bargain. Although I sure wouldn’t mind having both.
The excruciatingly weird mix of chocolate and mossy greens that's the hallmark of the Merveilles line is toned down here, and actually works quite well adding background complexity to the creamy, buttery incense and iso e super amber that's the star of the show.
