We all know that at one time before the quartz crisis, Omega enjoyed a reputation as the undisputed leader of mass produced high end Swiss watches and that Rolex played second fiddle. Against Omega: 70% brand recognition; fair resale value; ridiculous number of limited editions (but getting better), heritage models and not so great commercial tie-ins (eg, some tacky Bond watches); second fiddle reputation. The Rolex bracelet was a rattle-trap that felt cheap, had an ugly clasp, and hollow endlinks. In comparison, the Omega SMP had a much more solid clasp, nicer . norb1967.
