After a few months of wear, I noticed the watch was running fast. I know all of Breitling's watches are supposed to be COSC certified so I checked it against an atomic clock. The result is that my watch is running +12 seconds per 24 hours, clearly out of specification.

Breitling running fast.
About a month ago I purchased a Breitling SOH 42. The description said it had been worn extremely lightly since it was purchased in 2016. After taking a quick glance while winding it just now, it appeared the watch was running somewhere between +90-120 seconds after about 2 days. I took a quick trip to my AD over the weekend and they were able to confirm within seconds that it was running fast and regulated it on the spot. Now it looks like it is running in the -1/+1s per day range instead of +12s! When I manually wind the watch, it runs much faster, up to +10spd. As the watch begins to lose power, it slows down considerably, sometimes -2spd. It’s only a ~40hr power reserve so I think there’s more variability than my Tudor BB with a 70hr reserve, which runs a fairly consistent +3spd. Even non-COSC watches should run accurately, not within chronometer parameters, but enough so you're not running fast, slow, nor having to readjust the time quite often.
My watch didn’t hit the ground. But a few hours later I noticed it was 5 minutes fast. Reset it. Few hours later same thing. A day later it was 15 minutes fast. Put it on my timegrapher and it looked like flurries. I let it run down and then tried it today. With only a couple winds it looked much better on the grapher. If a watch is running extremely fast it can indicate a magnetized hairspring coils. Magnetized coils stick together which shortens balance wheel rotation thus increasing the beat rate. Find a watchmaker with a demagnetizing machine and have him give it a shot. After a few months of wear, I noticed the watch was running fast.
